March Meeting {17/3/04}Attendance: U7s, U8s, U9s, U10s(Bl), U10s(Gn), U11s, U12s, U13s, U14s
U15s, U16s, Girls section, Sen ‘A’ & Sen 1st XI. – Non attendance in Bold.
Apologies from Robin Ringham, Pat Eley.
Steve Brown would like to start training earlier than 23rd April. YEL Photo session is for players requiring new photos (2 years)-starts 7pm to 9pm. Minutes agreed.
Training can begin at any time but at present must be restricted to nominated areas, space may be a problem this will have to be raised with David; at present age groups at 8, 9,10,11(x2),12,14 & Girls will train. Under 11s would like space at pitch size to prepare for next season but this may not be possible because it may impinge on other age groups.
Steve Brown pointed out that although it states in the last set of minutes that the second U11s team will play away he stated this was not the case, and hoped they would be accommodated if possible.
Shower still a problem in changing room 1. Dave has in his possession a ‘new’ mower. Bowls fence to be extended in height; this will cause a problem with retrieving balls? Hopefully the CCTV tape will reveal evidence on the theft from the car park and fly tipping activities.
Discussion on introducing a new practice goal, replacement of all weather-playing surface will be expensive. Running Club commences March 6th.
Fixtures for April will follow ASAP- information to Jed in order to book games, night games come into play during this month.
Account sheet shows spending above average, however things remain healthy considering the outgoings on Level 1 training. Barbara is actively seeking funds from external funding agencies to help with the ‘maintenance’ month-May. Wilkinsons, ‘helping hand’ scheme will donate materials for painting etc, indeed if any Managers require funding information this is available on a system of ‘Trusts’ from individual sources / companies.
Managers were asked on their opinions on setting up a system of payment for match subs/training by cheque or standing order, perhaps with a discount available! Feedback please.
With training activities ceasing at the Forum etc please keep Barbara up to date with attendance.
Andy P established the Richard Herrod Centre holds a maximum of 300. A debate ensued on why we have a presentation night and our expectations. Splitting remains an option but as usual time is short and we have agreed to hold it on one evening at the Richard Herrod Centre in June; the evening will hopefully start at 6pm for the younger age groups, terminating at 8pm when the older age groups will take over. The Seniors are welcome to attend but will stage their own event. Tickets will be allocated per age group, probably 25 for each team to cover costs and regulate the numbers.
Feedback on trophy requirements to Dave please, plus titles of the three special trophies – 2 weeks deadline from this meeting.
Finals on Sat 24th April. Volunteers will be required on the Friday evening to set up goals, rope off pitches etc. On the day Jed will arrange Match day coordinators; but help will be required on Tea Bar, car park duty and marshalling – 1130 Hrs start on the day. Barbara Bowmar is to request opening of Fisherman’s car park and ice cream van. Security on the day is paramount.
8) Three Villages Gala.
Steve Charlesworth has arranged individual trophies and invited Lowdham Colts to attend. The main trophy Shields have been kindly provided by Mark Rosenberg (Mail Workshop Ltd) and will be contested annually at the same event; the format will remain as last year.
Opportunity for raising funds was discussed, Ken has offered to build and paint boards for a mini goal ‘shooting gallery’, and Steve Hudson offered to supply footballs. Volunteers will be required to man the event on the day.
9) Charter Standard.
Steve is currently processing the Development Plan and Code of Conduct. Jez Whittle has suggested we create an assistant Child Protection Officer post; those present would like it to be a female. All Managers, Coaches and active volunteers were encouraged to complete a disclosure form for CRB vetting, the process for handling verification by the Club will be discussed with the Chairman. A list of names is required by Steve for the next meeting on who will be required for vetting, this will mean all who intend to run teams to come forward.
A decision from Gary Watson (U14s) will be sought, Level 1 training enrolment established before 1st May. In service training events, as part of the Standard will have to attended, once every two years; a commitment to cover by us all.
The development Plan is to be formalised by a small working party, if anyone would like to attend to help process contact Steve Brown.
10) A.O.B.
The YEL have congratulated us on our Web Site, well done Steve (BJ Webmaster).
Thanks to Ken and Amanda for their contacts enabling Steve’s Under 9s to appear at one of the country’s greatest Stadiums; half time entertainment at the Nott’s County Plymouth match. I understand the after match celebrations were something to behold!
Congratulations to both our under 10s Blue and under 11s who are both contesting Semi Finals.
Under 11s at home to Hall Pak on Sat 27th March and under 10s play at Keyworth against Pelican on Sunday 28th (1230 K/O). The Club now seems to challenge for silverware every season.
Good luck.
Date of next meeting Wed 21st April 2004 8pm.
