Apologies from John Tyas, Darren Ward, Barbara Riley, Clive Rogers and Steve Brown.
Apologies from Jed Riley, the date for the next meeting was wrong on the last set of minutes.
A representative from the YEL has unfortunately misinformed present U14s Managers that they will be running a league at that age group next year, this is still under discussion. Dave Wright as received some feedback on the Sunday 11 a side YEL league and will keep us informed.
Andy Parkinson asked for clarification on the subject of only playing children from the village? It is impractical for many reasons but the initial attempts on finding new players especially for the younger age groups would be from the village, and certainly the Junior School. It was pointed out that both Bulcote and Stoke Bardolph did not contribute to the development of the Sports Ground. Capping of Teams for next season was discussed and it was agreed at present to run with the following at league / competitive status: 9s, 10s, 2 at 11s(with one seeking alternative pitches) 12s, 13s, 14s, 15s, 16s and 2 at Senior level.
The suggested removal of the Pool table was agreed; if anyone can find it a good home please contact Sports Ground Committee. The problem of kicking balls against the shutters remains a problem, please monitor on match days. YEL Cup Finals have been agreed for the 24th April. The Club has no objections to the Archers staging a competition on a Sunday afternoon in August.
The Fun Run was a great success, attracting the biggest attendance to date.
The season is proving to be a difficult one, the wet weather beginning to cause concern. Fixtures are still not being forwarded to Jed on time so when published please be aware of individuals Tea Bar duties.
The Three Villages Gala have contacted the Club requesting the cost of trophies be kept at £100 (split between both parties). Steve Charlesworth has agreed to look into this and has suggested we purchase two Shields for the winners, which are returned each year; this we agreed to do. Barbara is recovering well after her illness and the Club expresses its regards and best wishes but we want to see a full return to fitness and would hope she takes time off to recover. Amanda has kindly stepped into the breach and will cover ‘catering’ duties when time allows.
The Presentation evening was discussed and at present we are exploring the possibilities of having a presentation event at the ground for age groups 13s to 16s, and an evening at another venue (Richard Herrod Centre) for the remaining age groups, excluding the Seniors. Andy Parkinson agreed to look at possible attendance figures for the younger age groups with fire regulations etc being an issue. Feed back at the next meeting please for a final decision.
Jed Riley delivered the report, members present will note a dramatic drop in finances due to payment of Charter Standard fees, this is not a problem and was to be anticipated. An ‘E’ Mail was read out from Chris Jones to Steve Brown regarding his praise for all concerned on the Level 1 Coaching Course. Barbara Riley thought it well worth mentioning especially with regard to the ‘noticeable increase in performance’ since Chris’s new found talents have been disseminated to his playing staff.
Most members had now attended the course and some have expressed an interest in attending the Level 2, indeed Steve Charlesworth has gained this qualification and recommends it, this takes into consideration diet, nutrition and advanced tech skills. John Tyas (U10s Gn) is currently attending a course, and other managers who still have to attend will be pressed to do so. Jed is to speak to Gary (U14s).
Steve will no doubt be looking to formalise the Club Development Plan, and the contents will have to be sanctioned for us to move forward, Chris Jones is willing to contribute with this process and made his intentions clear with Steve.
8) A.O.B.
Managers are advised to be aware of a ‘photo session’ scheduled to take place at the ground by the YEL for next season’s registration cards (April). Training at the Poplars on Friday nights very much on a social basis is scheduled to begin on Friday 23rd April. Julie-Ann has kindly agreed to formulate a Tea Bar rota and will require a list of all age groups wishing to participate. Details to her direct or to Jed please, on both volunteers and age groups. It was suggested this was the ideal opportunity for children in the village to participate with a view breaking into a team.
Note: Fastest recorded Club meeting, the meeting closed at 9:15!!!!!!!
Date of next meeting Wed 17th March 2004 8pm.
