  1. Minutes of previous meeting.

Minutes were agreed.

2) Matters arising.

The under 10s raised the problem of poor turn out for the recent top dressing exercise, registering there dissatisfaction at the short notice given. Jed Riley apologised for this but had no choice; the soil was to be delivered that weekend. A further two weeks were also scheduled and duly notified, again the second week was poorly attended and no one turned out for the third week at all!

Gary Watson requested that the success of his team-last years under 13s be registered. The AGM Minutes omitted the fact that they had achieved Runners Up in Div 2 and gained promotion to

Div 1, apologies from the Ass’t Sec.

  1. Maintenance.
  2. The ongoing problem of ground maintenance was raised by Dave Wright, he requested a decision from all in attendance whether we were to continue to volunteer and suffer poor turn out and lack of interest as discussed at the last meeting, or do we wish to remind the Parish Council of their responsibility for repair etc. A long discussion ensued with the Chairman clarifying certain points but a vote was taken and it was agreed to continue in some form or other. A greater period of notification would be given and likewise a better response would be expected. Barbara Riley suggested that the month of May be dedicated to a programme of repair, this could be investigated.

A strategy of maintenance would be discussed with Dave Wright, Robin and Geoff Brinley from the Parish Council/Sports Ground Committee at a meeting to be convened in the near future.

  3. Charter Standard.
  4. The first meeting was held on Tuesday 15th July, handouts were issued from Barbara for Managers/Coaches to register their coaching qualifications if any, this has always been a problem area in attaining the Standard due to a lack of timely response. The meetings are open forum and all are welcome to attend with the next meeting scheduled to take place on the 29th July at Barbara’s house. The Aug meeting has been cancelled because of holidays. The Club have appointed a Child Protection Officer, this important role will be taken up by Jez Whittle. It would be appropriate however to have a lady CPO to work with Jez on an equal basis so if anyone is interested please contact Barbara or any other member of the Standard Committee. Jez would like to address the Club Committee at a future date.

  5. Treasurer’s report.
  6. June’s return would appear very sketchy with the only thing worth mentioning was a splendid set of means kit purchased from Ripley Town for a snip at £150.00.

  7. Fixture Cards.
  8. Information required by Dave Wright, deadline for print is beginning of August any contribution after this will not be included. The final draft is required by Print 4 for August meeting.

  9. A.O.B.

Letter received from Parish Council thanking the Club for its contribution of £108 towards the recent ground improvements, this was in fact Dave Lists own fund retained by the Treasurer. Dave Wright will be at the ground on Friday night to discuss the purchase of a set of Mini Soccer goals, he has a brochure with various alternatives. A second set may be required but we have decided to buy one set and review the quality.

The unacceptable state of the Clubroom after Friday nights was raised again; Dave Wright was at the ground on Sat morning after the night’s activity on Friday 11th July to witness a mess outside, in the corridor and the main room. The Parish Council have spoken about employing a cleaner on Sat mornings and billing the Club! It is our belief that Managers with age groups training have a responsibility to clear the field of any litter in their own training area but after this there responsibility and the Clubs ceases at this stage. Parental responsibility for conduct should then take over and it is the Bar staffs responsibility to clear and make tidy after enjoying the benefits of a social evening. Not all participants on a Friday night are attached to the Club.

Note: Removal of football boots is a requirement of entry into the Clubroom.

Jed Riley would like to record the efforts of the players and parents of the under 15s age group in a recent goal post painting activity on Sunday morning………….thanks.

Pat Eley would like to play a friendly fixture on Aug 2nd, Jed Riley is to raise this with Dave.

The Under 10s have also asked Jed to make representations to Dave about the possibilities of having three Mini Soccer pitches marked out for the new season, one for the girls on the ‘new’ training area and two for Sat/Sun mornings. This was raised on the May meeting to which Dave was not in favour at that time.

Date of next meeting – Wed 20th Aug 8pm.
